About Bhavdhara Academy

Bhavdhara is a "not-for-profit" institution of knowledge that fosters the dreams and aspirations of underprivileged families striving to break free from their shackles to reach new orbits.

It was founded on the 7th of January, 2003 by Mr. Liladhar Pirsali together with his wife Mrs. Devi, under the aegis of Mr. Nripraj Jain, eldest son of Mr. Shadilal Jain (the former Sheriff of Mumbai).

Our Philosophy

Life at Bhavdhara is all about simple Living yet high thinking. Not afraid to experiment, the teachings here are a reminiscence of India’s ancient education system, carefully incubated in a future ready environment. A glimpse of this path breaking initiative can be captured as one walks down the school corridors Video and the future zone.

Our Principal

At the helm of Bhavdhara is Prof. Liladhar Pirsali whose child-like enthusiasm , humility and sacrifice that has kept the flame at Bhavdhara burning even in the most pressing times. What sets him apart is his humility to let rationale prevail over his ideology for a greater purpose.

He hails from a traditionally educated family living in poverty ridden village in the snow clad Himalayas which perhaps explains his hermit lifestyle.

He did his M.A. Degree under tutorship of Dr. Usha Mehta and Dr. Aloo J. Dastoor of Mumbai University. Afterwards he took to teaching job in a local Mumbai High School, left it and travelled across the country opening schools for the needy and launching different types of up-liftment activities with little perceptible success.

His primary education in schools devoid of minimum basic facilities Prof. Pirasali took to the pilgrimage to the icons of the society of that period like Dr. Indrachandra Shastri, Kaka Saheb Kalelkar, Jai Prakash Narayan and Vinoba Bhave. Frustrated within a year he took refuge in writing on ‘A Dream City: A City of Education’, Socrates, Adi Shankar acharya, Hitler, French Revolution, Boris Yeltsin, Bal Thakare, B. R. Ambedkar, J. J. Rousseau, Naxalism, An Utopia of Anna Hazare, etc.

His literature and press briefings are indeed thought provoking

From the Principal’s Desk

"Bhavdhara is an endeavor of a challenged crusader dreaming to create a better life for man, his society and environment. It has inspired me to pen a thesis on an alternative social order and am very optimistic it will see the light of the day (in more ways than one) "

About Bhavdhara Academy, I prefer to say that it is a utopia till the dreams are reality.
